Call for Papers

Subject-The traditions and indigenous knowledge of Himalayan ethnic group:
             Issues & Challenges for safeguarding 

       

Sub-themes:

1.    The cultural traditions – Music, Dance, Theatre, epic, Fair- festivals, costumes, ornaments, Masks, Musical instruments and other oral literature of ethnic group of the Himalaya regions.

2.    The indigenous knowledge for preserving/safeguarding of artefacts and other folkloristic traditions of ethnic group of the Himalaya regions.  


We welcome proposals for general seminar and for the Research Scholars’ dealing with the subject. Papers must be no longer than twenty (20) minutes. Research Scholars may also submit short proposals for 10-minute papers on their research for presentation in specially organized sessions. All proposals should contain: author; title; around 300-400 words abstract; intended audience [i.e., General Seminar, or Research Scholars Forum]; indication of technical facilities; brief biographical note of the author; full postal address; fax number and e-mail-address at himalayanheriteg98@gmail.com. The abstract will be accepted after scrutiny to avoid substandard and irrelevant presentations.





Seminar Venue:

The seminar will take place at the sprawling campus of the Sikkim University Seminar Hall, Tadong, Gangtok. The nearest railway station is New Jalpaiguri (njp) the nearest international airport is Bagdogra around 130 km from Gangtok.

Deadlines:

a. Submission of abstracts: 31 July 2013
b. Acceptance Information 2 August, 2013
c. Early registration 3 August, 2013

Seminar Fee:

1.    National participants: INR 2000
2.    Research Students (National) INR 1000
3.    For SAARC Country INR 2000
4.    International Participants (upon arrival) USD 100

No TA/DA will be provided to the participants. Only accommodation for two nights will be provided on share basis.

 Payment method will be informed after the acceptance of the abstract.
 International participants can make their payment in Indian currency upon arrival only. There is no late registration for them. The abstracts may be submitted by e-mail at himalayanheriteg98@gmail.com.
